Romans 10:4 - "For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believes."
This verse is a pivotal statement for the Christian. It should be a great source of confidence and joy even in the most difficult trials. It tells us that our salvation is earned by Christ who kept the law of God without fault. None of us have done that, " For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23.) . And, " the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
Isaiah prophesied, 700 years before Christ came into the world, "All we like sheep have gone astray.......but the Lord has laid on him the iniquity of us all" (Isaiah 53:6).
Our salvation is eternal and secure for Christ has given us righteousness with God through receiving him into our lives as Lord and Saviour. Romans 10:4 goes on to say, "to everyone that believes"; believes that Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day, according to the Scriptures, that is, the prophecy of the Old Testament written centuries before Christ appeared.
