Location: Peoples Church of Montreal - Montreal, Quebec, Canada 

The Youth Pastor Position

Reporting to the Senior Pastor and the Board of Deacons, the Youth Pastor is responsible for pastoral oversight of the high school youth ministry and the children’s ministry which includes Sunday School and Awana.

Peoples Church is a regional, multinational Bible teaching ministry in downtown Montreal. It has been a beacon for the gospel message since 1938. Our location at the corner of Sherbrooke St. and Union Ave. is directly across from McGill University. Our congregation includes members/adherents who represent approx. 40 nations, and this diverse group contains university students, teens, young families, and seniors whose priority is "To Know Christ, To Grow in Christ and To Make Him Known". We are a member of The Associated Gospel Churches of Canada (AGC).

Responsibilities:

Youth Group

  • Recruit, train, and coordinate a team of volunteer leaders to run the Friday night high school youth group.

  • Schedule yearly calendar (Friday nights, and special events like retreats and youth rally, etc.).

  • Oversee Bible teaching and choice of curriculum.

  • Handle all administrative tasks with teens and parents.

  • Actively encourage and challenge the youth to spend time in the Word and in prayer.

  • Actively encourage the youth to pray for, and evangelize their peers with the aim of bringing them to Jesus.

  • Engage parents as vital ministry partners 

 

Children’s Ministry

    • Recruit, train, and coordinate a team of volunteer leaders to run the children’s ministry.

    • Schedule yearly calendar, Sunday school program, Awana, VBS etc.

    • Oversee all administrative tasks with children and parents.

    • Engage parents as vital ministry partners

Other:

  • For the first six months the Associate Pastor will provide leadership and guidance to the Youth Pastor to ensure a smooth transition into role.

  • There may be times that the Youth Pastor will be called upon to preach to whole congregation under the mentoring and leadership of the Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor.

Qualifications:

The Youth Pastor shall:

  possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology or a related field;

  have experience in working with teens and/or children;

  be a mature Christian who daily spends time in the Bible and in prayer;

  demonstrate the heart of a servant leader according to John 13; 1 Peter 5: 1-4; 1 Tim 3 and Titus 1;

  have a passion for mentoring, teaching and leading youth to a deeper level and commitment to Christ;

  communicate effectively with parents of teens and children;

  have strong written and oral communication skills in English;

  have strong interpersonal and presentation skills;

  be a good and perceptive listener;

  be accountable, reliable and transparent;

  be a “self-starter” and show initiative; and

  be willing to (eventually) become ordained in the Associated Gospel Churches of Canada (AGC).


Salary: Salary will be commensurate with training and experience, based on AGC guidelines.
