Good Works
For we are His workmanship created in Christ Jesus for good works which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. ~ Ephesians 2: 10-11 ~
These words follow Paul's statement that our salvation is 'a gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast'. We receive this gift when we believe Christ died for our sins, was buried and rose again the third day.
We receive Him into our hearts as Lord and Saviour and we are born again to a new life in Christ.
We are told that we are God's workmanship entering a life of good works which should be characterized by joyful service since we know that God is working with and in us. Note that God prepared these with us in mind in eternity past since in His foreknowledge He knew what we were best suited for. The New Testament teaches us about these good works. And that is good news!
