Our Church Blog - Encouraging One Another

Encouraging One Another

Posted by Pastor Frank Humphrey on

Hebrews 10:25 - Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

This verse tells us three things. The first two are commands (one negative, the other positive). The third gives both the reason and the motivation for obeying the two commands.
We are instructed to not make a habit of skipping church attendance as others are prone to do. The context of the letter to the Hebrews was persecution. To identify with other believers could invite serious consequences, as it does in many parts of the world today.

The second command is to encourage one another. This reminds us that we are not isolated individuals as Christians, but members of the body of Christ. We are spiritually connected to one another and should encourage one another. The Holy Spirit knows that we need encouragement and He uses us to serve each other in this way. I am thankful for the support I have received from many of you. I have received from The Lord the best human encouragement I could ask for - my wonderful wife, Daria.

The reason and motive we should keep encouraging one another is that we must be ready for the return of The Lord for us, either at death or the Rapture!
