‘The Kingdom of God is not a matter of eating or drinking but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit’.
We are told in Romans 14:17 what life is characterized by in the Christian community. Righteousness refers to a restored right relationship with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. ‘Restored’ because our sin nature separated us from God, but Christ died for our sins as our substitute, was buried and rose again the third day. If we receive Christ into our hearts we are restored to God and born again into His family and have our sins forgiven. The Holy Spirit indwells us. All this brings peace with God. This is characterized by joy in the Holy Spirit. This is our heritage as believers!
