"For He has said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you'." Heb 13:5b
-- This verse is a great expression of the security we have in Christ. The promise contained in these words is used by the following verse in Hebrews 13 to inspire courage, indeed fearlessness in the face of persecution. The promise, however, has a wider application. John Newton said it truly in his hymn, Amazing Grace:
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.
This should be our confidence as well since He had said, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you".
