Isaiah 40:31 - They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
These words of Isaiah teach us a great truth. It applies to all those that "wait upon the Lord". (Think more in terms of a waiter or waitress, than waiting for a bus!) It promises renewed strength as we go through the struggles of life. Isaiah was well qualified to speak about struggling. He lived in troubled times of war and rebellion against God.
"Renewed strength " refers to spiritual life. Isaiah is using metaphor to drive home a message of hope. If our relationship with God through the Lord Jesus Christ is vital, through the Word and prayer and church attendance and fellowship with other believers, we can be confident as we face life with the Lord.
