Our Motivation

Posted by Pastor Frank Humphrey on

For Christ's love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again. ~ 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 ~

These verses give us the motivation for life and sharing the gospel with others. Christ died for all. He bore the sins of the entire world, of every generation, on the cross, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

The word 'perish' reminds us that the result of unbelief is terrible indeed.

The motivation for the Christian is the love of Christ. Since He loves the people of the world, so should we. Love is not primarily a matter of sentiment but of attitude and action. 1 Corinthians 13 tells us that love is patient, kind, does not envy, is not proud or rude or selfish. Love keeps no record of wrongs and does not enjoy evil. Love rejoices with truth and always protects, trusts, hopes, perseveres. Love never fails.

We also are told that we should no longer live for ourselves but for Him who died for us. Let us ask our Heavenly Father for his Holy Spirit to glorify Christ by empowering us for serving and for witness.
