Jesus sets us an example and washes the feet of the disciples. It's a dirty and demeaning job, but he does it. 

He serves them out of love. No one forces him to do it. 

Just as later he would die on the cross out of love. 

A servant heart is part of what it means to be Christ-like.

If you have trouble serving those who have hurt you, remember that Jesus washed the feet of Judas, knowing full well that Judas would betray him. 

There is no act of service which is below you. You will be blessed if you do it.
