Proverbs 31 was written by a woman. It contains the advice of a mother to her son, the king. 

We need to recognize women and look at them as God does. Women need to know that they are valued. 

Abuse occurs because we do not value and respect women as we should. The church has been to passive, sometimes giving out bad advice, sometimes with bad teaching about submission. 

1 Peter 3:7 has some important words for husbands. They need to treat their wives well. 

God stands for the abused and oppressed. 

He cares for mothers. Jesus last act before he died was to see to his mother's care.
