Assurance
1 John 5:13 - These things I have written to you that believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
The apostle John writes to Christians who are unsure of their salvation. This is a problem some believers face. Let us consider what a Christian is.
You are saved if you trut that Christ died for your sins, that he was buried and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures (1Cor 15:3 ). You receive Him into your heart as Lord and Saviour and you are born again.
John gives the assurance that if you believe in the name of the Son of God you can be certain that you have eternal life. That should be a 'joy unspeakable and full of glory' (1Peter1:8).
